What Are Audio Books

An Audio Book is the recording of a text read by an actor or voiceover artist, sometimes by the author themselves.  Not always an exact replica of the text in book form, Audio Books can convey more emotion and characterisation than traditional books.

As well as giving access to books for the blind, the advantages of Audio Books include the ability to perform other non-risk tasks while listening, not having to use your hands or fingers to turn pages or press buttons and the ability to absorb the text from a relatively greater distance from the source.  

E.g. You can listen to a book being read dramatically by an actor from the kitchen as you prepare dinner, listen while you drive, listen on your MP3 player in waiting rooms or even listen while you read the same book yourself.  

There’s no better or more relaxing way to absorb the contents of a book. Let yourself drift off and simply hit rewind when you wake up - unless you’re driving or operating machinery of course!
